I'm a Fish!
It spite of a tropical storm just south of me the day is good!!!

Got the housing about 2 weeks ago...now all I need is new lighting...order that tomorrow thru Ikelite. It'll take a year to fully understand that camera!

My old Nikonis system was never found off the Spiegle Grove

Hang on to the 8080 this time around, congratulations on your new picture-taking tool. Where exactly did you lose that Nikonos? :D

Dive Safe

I was on my safety stop on the 2nd buoy to the south end of Spiegle Grove. I had it attached to my retractable clip on my BC. This girl in my group was a fairly new so I was helping steady in position when a group of other divers came down the line with a myriad of bubbles. I just let the camera hang free...suddenly I got lighter and it was gone. Whe n I checked my clip on the surface it was fine so I guess the tie wraps broke. Mayby one of the decending diver snagged and...dunno, but it sank to the sand at 130. A guy from Ocean Divers went down the next day a looked but no luck...then the hurricane came the following week righting the ship so if still there its probably under the hull.

At a 130 ft, that will give me about 10 minutes to look for It...I think I'll look for it on eBay! Did the girl you were helping at least say thank you? Start learning all the buttons on the 8080 and take a lot of pictures!

She didn't know what was going on...BTW, haven't seen it yet on ebay! Anyway I was ready for digital!

Congrats. My received my brand spankin' new C-7070 a few days ago. It's like Christmas arrived early, and my new Ikelite housing is shipping now.

But don't give up on the Nikonis. Minor miracles can occur. My old Cybershot did a Lazarus and came back to life today a month after I flooded it. I had given it up for dead. Housing flooded completely at 30 metres. No sign of life afterwards, but I soaked it in freshwater after the dive anyway.

A few weeks later, still nothing so I ordered the C-7070. Then today I was fiddling with the 'deceased' Cybershot with a view to pulling some parts off it, when it sprang to life! I needed to partially dismantle it to ungum the rubber controls on the back, but now it's working 100%

So, I've got a new C-7070 and, in a sense, I got a knock-around camera for free, and it owes me nothing! :D Maybe your Nikonis will come back to you too.

Now I just need to learn to use the 7070...

I jsut ordered the housing for my Oly Evolt E-300 Digital SLR. I will also have that year of learning. I can't wait to get in the water

congratulations, as well PF and CA diver. PF your sony coming back from the dead is incredible and CD how does looking through the Evolt's viewfinder via the dive mask and housing look? bright enough? can you see the full frame?

Yep, they can. I was on a dive trip when a camera was dropped (accidently) at the surface at the end of the dive into 40m of water. The area was marked on the GPS and then next day a big group of divers headed out for a search and recovery mission. They found it too! Unfortunately the guy who found it has never let anyone forget either!
