So I love my new Hydros BC. Clings to you underwater like flypaper. Barely know that it's on your back.

I hate the weight pockets. Also do not like the belt clip.

So I modified mine. Cut the flimsy belt on each side of the tech harness. Had sturdy weight belt sewn on both ends to replace the flimsy stuff. Installed Molle weight pockets on both sides. Now I have space for other 2" compliant stuff like a knife and light pouch. Installed plastic weight buckle. Makes it easy to tighten underwater.

Made my own crotch strap and installed. Voila. Best of both worlds for me.

If I could only change the size of the D-Rings on the shoulders to larger ones, it would be perfect.

Modifying gear? OMG! You are going to d..... :stirpot:

(I get you are showing them a better design, but perhaps it would be better in DIY :thumb:)

Tridacna,
can I ask why you did not consider the supplied "flimsy" webbing up to the job and replaced it with the heavier pieces? Could the new buckle not simply be installed onto the "flimsy" webbing.
I will probably be able to answer this question myself in a few days when I hopefully receive my own Hydros but I've been thinking about doing something along the lines of your mods on mine.
Also, why have you installed the weight pockets upside down (at least it appears that way)?
