Hi Divers!
I did the toothpaste treatment, and I was happy with my new low volume mask in the cold waters of the Pacific NW --but when I took it to Fiji, it started fogging up, but only on the right side.
I notice these differences: hot humid climate, I did probably get some sunscreen on the lense at one point, and typically shallower dives than I do at home.
But we burned both lenses with a lighter, twice, and did toothpaste on both lenses, twice, all this AFTER I may have got the sunscreen on it, but NO lUCK it always fogs on the right lense, and not only that it fogs in the same area of the lense (right where my eye needs to see through naturally!).
I've read that mask surface not being clean is the main reason masks fog up, so did I do some kind of permanent chemical change to the lense, or should I return it as defective (it's only got like 30 dives on it). It seems like I can see a permanent "sheen" or something on the inside surface when I turn it into the light just right on the area that fogs up.
Thanks a bunch for any advice. I don't have the model handy but it is one year old, about $85US, supposed to be a good mask. I never had fogging problems with my first mask, for 5+ years.
