I was talking to the owner of my local LDS about some things I bought elsewhere because of pricing and/or inattention that his employees gave me. The response was good help is hard to find... and Next time you want to buy something atleast give me a chance and let me know what you want and I'll give you my price. I said OK.

I called and E-mailed my LDS saturday about a compass and SPG. He said give him til monday as it was late. I replied OK no problem. Monday comes and goes and no price. I called early today and spoke with an employee who said the owner was on another line, I asked them to make sure they told the boss that I was still wanting the price. Now it's closing time and still no price.

Should I continue to wait or should I go looking for a deal here or E-bay or LP?

of course I checked before I posted and no Email and after I posted theres an Email.
bully for him:D

Still bad pricing i think.. As I'm sure theres people that are more informed than me.. what do ya think

OMS or ScubaPro "brass and Glass" SPG with hose 122.00
Suunto SK7 wrist 95.00

with 15% off

I paid around $50 for my brass/glass SPG, no hose. That was with TDL. I paid about $60 for my SK7 from LP. TDL runs specials on their bass SPG's on a regular basis. Mine are made by XS Scuba, or at least one is, I have three, and did not look at all of them.

There's a dive shop in Sacramento I used to briefly do business with because the owner gave me a great deal on a Pinnacle wetsuit. I wanted to get the matching hooded vest for it, and on 3 separate occasions he said he'd order it and call me when it came in and promptly blew me off each time and I always had to call him and was told it was never ordered but he'd do that after he got off the phone with me.

After the third time of this, I went to another dive shop and got it cheaper anyway. If that person didn't call you back when he said he would, then there's no reason to do business with him anymore. Doesn't matter if you buy online or at another dive shop, but as far as I'm concerned, if a dive shop has poor customer service then they should have no customers.

Take home lesson: Don't give loyalty to a dive shop that deserves none.

He replied in a reasonable time frame. My reply would be - Thanks for the reply while waiting for your prices I was able to find the compass for XXX and the SPG for YYY. Any chance you could match those prices. Here are the links:"

The owner will either say yeah or neah, and will know what you did. That is fair.

If a business, any business doesn't respond to my request in a reasonable amount of time I write them off as having (A) too much money to care about my business or (B) just bad business sense.

I would call the owner up one last time. You have to remember they have a lot on there mind. (there people too they forget) Just to call back to remind them and work out a better price if you feel its needed. If they blow you off again look for a different dive shop.
