I'm a Fish!
Just made the switch to a Canon 7D in a Nautican Housing. Was previously using my Canon S90 in a FIX S90 housing.
Am not sure if it was worth the expense and trouble, but so far it is looking promising.

Some results from my first few dives with the Canon 7D and Nauticam Housing. I was also using a FIX1000 light, 2x Sea n Sea D1 strobes and sigma 50mm Macro lens.

Great pictures

It is true that your s90 pictures were also good and once you consider the effort of the heavy rig and the fact that you have only one lens for the dive it feels restrictive but I guess with plenty of opportunities for diving in the long term this will be very rewarding
Does this rig have manual with autoiso and ttl flash mode?

Fantastic pix

Thanks Guys,

Interceptor, I only shoot in manual so I have not really tried out the TTL in the water. I tried a few shots on land with the two strobes and they seem to work fine with an optical connection. TTL does not work when the camera is on M. It only works on Tv, Av, P and Auto modes.

So far I have not missed having the flexibility of changing lenses during a dive. If you noticed, all the shots posted are macro : ) Have not used the dome and wide angle yet. More convenient macro dive sites where I frequently dive.

The weight is not much of an issue in the water. Bulk is a more of a concern but I can get used to that. I suspect I will feel the biggest difference when I have to travel by air. Have not even bought a new bag or case to fit the whole rig in yet.

nice set of pics, ozzi....can't wait to see more.

Do you have an auto ISO option on manual? With a DSLR correct depth of field is essential and it will vary a lot with the various aperture however the size of the sensor means higher ISO are not an issue so setting the shutter speed and aperture and letting the camera work out the ISO would be ideal of course for wide angle
For macro total manual is fine

Great pictures ozzi. Sharpness and colors look great on the 7d. Thanks for all your help and insight around s90 and s95. Definitely helped me setup my rig. I'm also envious of all that great diving you can do without hopping on a plane and flying for half a day..

Thanks Chile. Will try to post more often. Have not been diving much lately.

Interceptor, I just checked, the 7D does ttl on Manual and also does Auto ISO on Manual mode. have not really tried to see what this can do for me but I guess it is something I can experiment with.

It should enable you to set your preferred shutter speed and aperture and then the camera using exposure compensation should choose the appropriate ISO in 1/3 fstop intervals

Nice photos, I just bought a housing for my 7d so am getting excited about it :)

Some of the photos appear a bit underexposed on my screen, but that might just be me.
