As many of you know my G10 died while I was in the Philippines. It started taking white photos intermittently until it finally took white photos all the time. That was coupled with a view in the monitor intermittently. Some of you thought the CCD failed and others a lens issue.

I waited until I returned to Hawaii then sent the camera to Canon.

Here is my experience with Canon USA's service. The camera was out of warranty.

1. 11/15 Phoned Canon and was immediately sent an E Mail with a link to download the form to be sent in with the camera.
2. 11/26 Shipped the camera to Canon.
3. 12/1 Canon E Mailed me advising me of the flat rate repair of $149.00 and gave me a phone number to call to authorize and pay for the repair.
4. 12/6 Canon E Mails me to advise the camera has been shipped to me via FedEx.
5. 12/9 camera arrives.

Service Details: The optical assembly did not operate properly causing missing pixels in the CCD. The optical assembly was replaced and product functions were confirmed. Other electrical adjustments and inspection and cleaning were carried out.

Total cost = $149.00 + 6.36 Tax + 10.00 shipping = $165.36

:thumb: IMO THAT'S GREAT SERVICE :yelclap:

Kudos to Canon USA.

Even better to think Gilligan won't have to keep borrowing a camera! Oh except now I see he's also running a G-12. Oh well, one for each hand= twice as many great shots. Sounds like a very reasonable repair experience, glad it was not too painful. // ww

Glad you have your camera back and Canon gave you good service.
