I'm just posting this on behalf of my cousin, she want's to get her open water but her Dr. said it's probably not a good idea with her condition. Doe's anyone have this condition and dive? or have any recommendations? would it be worth it for her to get a 2nd opinion?

There is not enough information here to answer the question. It depends on your cousin's age, her exercise tolerance, her ejection fraction and degree of dilation, any history of dysrhythmias, and possibly the underlying cause of her cardiomyopathy. In general, this is a high risk condition for arrhythmias, and I think it would have to be very mild and very early in the process, in and otherwise well and reasonably young patient, for anyone to recommend diving or even swimming to the patient.
