Anybody know of hotels or cabins in the area?

We will be coming from 50W.

Hi Kristy:

Theirs the "Mountaineer Motel" about 8 miles from Mt Storm lake off of Rt. 50.
You can reach them at 304 693-7631

Also a better motel about 20 miles away at Davis called "Alpine Lodge" 304 259-5245 or the "Tally Hotel" 304 463-4114. both better.

Hope this helps:

You'll love the water this time of the year...

Yeah what Sam said. Thought you guys were going down a week or two ago tho, Kristi. Remember seeing your countdown. I was there last weekend. Surface temps were 72-73 and recorded 68 at depth of 88 ft. This is where the 90-92 ft platform is. Lake is down alot so it's like 4 ft shallower. vis was 4-6 ft and dark as night way down. Cleaned santa claus off and had to feel my way back to the line. about 2 inches of silt on the deep platform. Take hotdogs cause the catfish are very hungry and will bother the crap out of you. Some big ones this time also. Must have moved out of the deeper water. Saw one about 2ft long. Buddy said out by the dam wall there was one almost big enough to noodle. Sam mentioned the mountaineer first and rightly so. it's not the ritz but it's clean and cheap. We like cheap. Sam is a good reference and you can take what he says to the bank. We did our drysuit course and dove Ginnie Springs together this year.

At the last minute we reconsidered because the weather was in the 40s there, and the high 50s in the other direction. We dove Gilboa instead with water temps at the surface in the high 50s and outside temps about the same. Haven't checked my computer to see how cold it was deep.

I said that was my last dive of the season, but can't seem to help myself. Fighting a cold at the moment. Will decide by Thursday I guess if my sinuses are going to cooperate.

Thanks guys. I'll get out maps and check all the options.

Hey Jim:

It's good to see you on the board. I should of known that i would run into you one day or another.

Thanks for the kind remarks!

Weather seems to be going down hill now, that sucks.. pardon me.

Give me a call some day when weather is nice & we'll climb into our drysuits.

Stay in touch:
