Mouth piece with a hose?

Question, I can across this mares abyss and it has an interesting mouth piece with a small hose with an adjustable knob. Anyone give any insight as to what that is used for?

I thought about getting a SCUDA back in the day. I thought it would be awesome to be able to take a sip to get rid of dry mouth. About the same time, Sherwood advertised their Oasis regulator and my dive shop carried them. I started my DM course and, of course, they wanted me to use new gear. I purchased the Oasis and it seemed to work for me. So I never tried the SCUDA.

It would be handy during long deco stops.

I've learned to use packet drinks with a straw, or just water bottles. I've also seen some guys use a camel back style apparatus but all require removing the mouthpiece to drink.
