A buddy and I were at Moses Point in North Saanich today.
To get there, take the Wain Road exit from the highway to Schwartz Bay, right on West Saanich and left on Lands End. Or go all the way to the ferry terminal but turn left before they ask you to pay for a ticket
At the end of Lands End is Moses Point Road. At the end is a cul-de-sac with enough parking for a few vehicles. There is a beach access path leading north to a nice beach - a very easy entry.
Neither of us had been there before, so we just did some exploring. We went to the right across a little bay toward a point, but the bottom was just flat and shallow with very little to see except a few crabs and some juvenile sea pens. Couple of nudis. Lots of golf balls.
Turned around and drifted west a little with the flood tide and went around the point to the left (toward Wain Rock). Not much more to see than the first part, some small ocean perch and sea-stars.
Max depth 45'. Average around 30.
If anyone is thinking about trying it, recommend entering the water and swimming left to follow the point around toward Deep Cove ... maybe there is more to see that way!
