Delpitos:
Hi,

I would like to know how much long can a moray get?

And if you can help about this video. I would like to know the specie of this moray and if it is normal to have a moray eating an entire fish?

Many Thanks

Delpitos

Are you wondering if this is a genuine film?

I am not a moray expert by any means, but judging as best I can by the film and the fact that there is no clear reference in it (such a diver), I would say that I have seen much larger morays than this, and, yes, they are predators.

The biggest moray I every seen was Percy in Grand Cayman (off Casa Bermar in the '70s). He must have run ten foot.

This is a moray filmed by my uncle in Thailand. I just wanted to know if there are bigger and what species is it...

Were can I find more movies like this?

Can't answer your question in absolute terms ...but I once had a moray come out of its hole and chase me in open water. That worm must have been 8 feet long and came at me with a vengeance. I was able to outswim it but only because I went for the surface. My heart is pounding just remembering that dive !!

My guess is that they can get VERY long !!

Wow. I have seen a few giant greens that probably went eight feet--although they sure seemed bigger in full swim. Ten feet is pretty big.

Wish I new. That one was pretty nice.

One dive in the Bahamas, I saw a green moray. It appeared to be "on a mission" swimming accross the sandy bottom... and it had to be every bit of 8 feet, if not longer. My guess was that it had left the wreck that we were getting ready to explore and was heading back to a reef not far from there. Not only was it incredibly long, but it was a FAT thing too. Definitely wouldn't want to mess with it, but it was very neat to see. It's not often that they actually come completely out and swim.

There is an in interesting medical post around... Either on SB or try google about a diver who was attacked and did an emergency ascent to get help. The picture accompanying the medical report and documents (i think it was used for research) was extremely graphic and showed what one of these ltttle greenies can do.... Serious business..

Another poster mentioned a story about a diver who had to cut the Moray's head off with his dive knife because his dive buddy and group leader were nowhere to be found and he needed help...

Found it... Great post and medical info for those of you with anatomy or medical training...
