I'm heading down next weekend and am making final decisions as to which shop to dive with and scheduling. I am wondering how the night diving is there. Would it be worth it to do a morning 2 tank dive, have a break, then do 2 night dives?

Provided that the visibility is decent during the day, a night dive could be well worth it, since the “night shift” will be on hand — crabs, octopuses, etc, will be out in the open, over the sand.

Common sites for night dives include San Carlos (The “Breakwater”) and McAbee Beaches, off Cannery Row; though Monastery Beach in Carmel, about fifteen or twenty minutes South, is also a fantastic site, after dark, but without too many Illuminated landmarks, for sighting at night . . .

That definitely sounds interesting, thanks

Bring a bright light to spotlight the rockfish along the wall at Breakwater, then wait for it. 😁
