I've a question about money in Bonaire! And here's a tune to listen to while you're pondering the answer.

In Mexico I found it was best to withdraw cash in pesos from an ATM because the exchange rate was better than what you typically get from the local shops. From an ATM you got 13 pesos while the shops were offering 10 pesos per dollar.

What is the best way to exchange cash in Bonaire? Take it with you or withdraw it there?

i think the money in Bonaire is now US but I have found it much better to take it with you! lots of small bills also go a long way then bigger ones!!! :) see you in a month!!

US cash is just fine except for the larger bills. Most places won't accept $100s. So you don't need to play the money game unless you like doing that.

Nice song!

The US Dollar is the official currency. Traveler's checks and credit cards are widely accepted. Be sure to have your passport or positive ID when changing Traveler's cheques at banks. From:

There's an ATM at the airport and at one time there was one in the Plaza lobby also. You'll pass one driving into town where the road forks and in the small plaza by the north dive resorts. Also at the Divi Resort - conveniently located by the Casino...lol. The Divi is just up the main road from the Plaza along the waterfront.

Also all the major food markets have one - including Warehouse Bonaire. Maduro/Curiel Bank has 10 across the island: ATM | Maduro & Curiel's Bank (Bonaire) N.V.
