Hi,

I'm getting back into diving after about a 25 year hiatus. Looking to find any DIR divers in MN who would be willing to mentor me as I re-enter the underwater world. Currently I have no equipment but plan on buying my kit this spring/summer.

I definitely want to go thru getting re-certified, but all I can find is the standard PADI/SSI open water certifications. Are there any dive shops in MN that will teach DIR style recreational diving?

Many more questions to come.

Thanks.

There is a big GUE group up in Ontario that may be able to offer some local suggestions. Try reaching out to their Fundies instructor - Steve: steveb@gue.com.

Good luck :)

Hi Chris (and thank you, Kathy). :)

It seems that you are in quite a remote place, as far as GUE/DIR divers are concerned. I do know some folks in the Chicago area, that would help you out, I'm sure. You are more than welcome to join the GUE Ontario FB page, and post, looking for diving friends. If you do ever find yourself in Ontario, we would be more than happy to join you, too! Feel free to message me, too. :)

Thanks Chantelle,

I am finding my location to be devoid of DIR divers. Being basically a new diver I want to get re-certified and have been looking into taking a GUE Recreational 1 course as well as their Dry Suit Diver course. I will need to travel to Florida, but it will definitely be worth it for the comprehensive training.

Thanks for the link to the GUE Ontario FB page.

you can do rec 1 in a drysuit

I have never dove in a drysuit before so would the drysuit training occur during the Rec 1 training?

yes. i just witnessed part of a rec 1 class here in the UK, taught in a drysuit. i believe it requires at least one extra dive
