I just got a nice used scubapro din adaptor. It's the newer one with the "plastic" wheel. I had a couple of questions.

First is whether or not to use locktite.

Second, is regarding the filter. It looks like it goes in backwards to the orientation of the yoke connector. How does it stay in?

How do you use a flat filter like the VDH kit utilizes?

No loctite required. Properly torqued, nothing should come loose.

I assume you are talking the universal din retainer where the filter goes in from the tank side. That installation give you more filter surface - a good thing. Never tried it but I'd bet a flat filter would work. But the cone filters are just not that hard to find. I usually clean and re-use mine,

Yes this is in regards to the universal din retainer. That's the confusing part, on the diagram and on the part the filter looks backwards compared to the yoke instalation.

On the diagram the filter appears to go in from the regulator side

I see it now, page 117 to 118. good ole Vance. The diagram that I have of the mk10 depicts the old metal hand wheel Din connector. What I have here is the newer type. I see why you dont locktite now. Also an oring behind the flat type filter looks like it would snug it up with the spring.

Care to expand on "clean and re-use"?

I throw mine in a clean US vinegar bath > rinse > soda soak > rinse > dry. So far.....so good? Is this an OK thing?

Add a good inspection each time it comes out of a solution and when done. Look closely for any signs of metal particles.

Of course. I only re-use if it looks pretty good anyway. I'd replace if there were obvious signs of damage, deterioration, or corrosion.

Thanks

Can anybody recommend a source for tribolube 66 or equilavent so I can pack these mk 10s up.
