The 650 is being recalled for a problem. The 600 and 550 are great as is the 650 when teh problem is fixed. Mk 25 is also a great reg esp for warm water.

It HAD two recalls. No recalls currently, as far as I know. Should there be a 3rd recall, please post the link with further information so that I may know if I have a possibly defective unit.

First recall was when they introduced it, and the second one last summer with a limited number of faulty units produced, as far as I know.

That said, I have one, bought it in October 2005. Works flawlessly, paired with MK25.

Tried Apeks TX100, Seac Sub Sorius, Mares Abyss and Poseidon Cyklon 5000, none breathe as good as X650/Mk25. Cyklon 5000 does deliver more air, by the feel of it, but does it in a not so subtle manner as does the X650, but quite the opposite.

I have the X650/Mk25 and love it. Best breathing reg I have ever used. I don't dive very cold water and have never been below 130 ft. I have had it for 3 years and it wasn't one that was recalled. If you plan on diving in very cold water you might want to check out the Mk17. I understand it is Scuba Pro's best cold water reg.

The X650 was introduced a bit prematurely and the initial regs were recalled as the inhalation effort increased over time. A new lever design fixed the problem.

The second recall occurred about a year ago and involved approximately 600 units with cases that were made with an incorrect polymer mix in the case.

The Mk 17 is well worth considering as it is an exceptional reg that performs as well as the Mk 25 in all the areas that actually matter, comes packaged with the X650 and the sealed design makes it very easy to maintain on tropical dives as there is no need to rinse the ambient chamber.

Thank you all for your objective advice. Buying the MK 25/x650. Continued confidence in SP; should not have had any doubts.

Both regs are good but the m1 is as superior reg buy far

if you diving in warm salt water its seal and dosnt get as dirty inside
and dosnt freeze in cold water

The mk25 is a great warm water reg . but has alot of draw backs like an open abient chamber that in a over head enviroment getfilled with shels sad and rust

My recomendation m1 or b2 buy far
