I hope this is not a daft question, as I am relatively new to this forum, but I have a Mares MR12 Axis regulator equipped with the Axis second stages (regular and octopus). Its been a great regulator, but I want to buy one with 2 HP ports to avoid me having to install a HP Port splitter to use my SPG and computer transmitter together. I have read good things about the Mares Abyss 22, but I cant afford to buy both first and second stages/octopus in one go.

My question is therefore: is it safe to use the Axis second stages if I attach them to the Abyss 22 first stage until such a time as I am able to buy the Abyss second stages?

Sincere thanks for any information anyone can provide.

Best wishes, Phil.

I recommend you taking both Axis octo and new Abyss to an authorized Mares dealer / Lab service center. They can determine if the two are in good working order and make any adjustments needed. Technically speaking they should be fine, however the Axis octo may need some tuning to breathe properly with the Abyss 22.

I hope this helps.

Thats great - many thanks indeed for your help - will do this as soon as the Abyss 22 arrives then - best wishes, Phil.
