Hi all,

Was just wondering if anyone out there had tried the new Minolta 7D yet?

Hi all,

I test drove one for a day, and was thrilled with the image stabilization. A friend of mine who owns a camera store is using the camera.

For someone who shoots in low light without a tripod, and can benefit from image stabilization, the camera has to get some serious consdieration. A serious long lens shooter can save several thousand dollars over a comparable Nikon or Canon system with VR or IS lenses.

Image quality for me appears to be the same as my d100, which makes sense, they use the same sensor, and a very similar AA filter.

The bad news is that no underwater manufacturer has committed to the camera yet, and being as late in the product life cycle as we are, I don't think anyone will.

Ryan,

Thanks for the info on the 7D. I've been toying with the idea of replacing my 14 year old 7xi for topside use. Not losing the investment I have already made in lenses is certainly an appealing feature of the 7D.
