I did my deep dives in nemo33 today.
Gearwise it was awful, but divewise it was great.
After 2 dives I got my ssi aow.
I got my ow cert in August and plan to do 4 more dives this year. After that it's 40 dives in 3 months:) (not bad for the first year)

Plans for the next season:

1 get a drysuit class+drysuit!!!!!!!!!!!!
2 nitrox
3 stress and rescue

Thanks to the people on SB for all the help.

Congratulation on getting your AOW. However, I got a question. Aren't you supposed to do you deep dive in Open Water (ie: Ocean, Sea, Lake, etc). I know what Nemo33 is. It is the world's deepest swimming pool. The water temp is consistently maintained at 30 degree, so I doubt there is a thermocline there. The bottom and the side of the pool are tiles, so there wouldn't be a silt-out or poor visibility no matter how hard you try. What I am trying to say is that Nemo33's controlled environment took away some stress inducing factors of a real deep dive site.

I did my deep dive in Vancouver. Where the water temp at the surface is about 22 degree and around 10 by the time I hit the bottom. Also, the bottom is silt, so one wrong move will cause a catastrophic silt-out. My first deep dive ended before I even reach the bottom because some of my classmates kicked their fins as they hit the bottom, causing a silt out and the instructors canceled the dive as a result. What is more annoying is that even though before everyone geared up, the instructor and the dive master warned them not to kick their fins or do any sudden movement while at the bottom.

Since I'm diving in the Netherlands we don't just hit thermoclines on deep dives. If you are on the surface your feet are in a different thermocline. I would say the silt situation was simulated by 10 divers descending below me and leaving me in a barrage of bubbles. And I had the fun of a leaky primary reg (eventhough I drychecked it) and a bcd that was 2 sizes to big. But no the dive was not stressful at all.

Congrats on your AOW. Remember cert cards are like drivers licenses it states you have the bare minimum of knowldege to get a certain card. Now it's up to you to apply that learning while acquiring some experience. Have fun dive safe

Thanks and I remember its the minimum.
Next year I'm going back to Malta for some great deep dives.
