Sadly, I have to report a fellow scuba diver and friend died after complications following the snowstorm the DC area received recently. Paraphrased with help from another friend and dive buddy:
C. M. "Mike" Gutterman died Monday evening (Jan 25) while attempting to walk from his truck to his house. His neighbor was there to assist but was not able to move past his truck where he fell unconscious to the ground. His neighbor began cardiac compressions until EMS arrived. He was transported to Montgomery General Hospital where he died. He was 62 years old.
Mike was long-time member & diver with the Atlantis Rangers, a founding member of the Olney club, a president of the Freestate Scubanauts (a Rockville club), and a volunteer diver for the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad. A retired DC Police Officer, Mike had a commercial diving business for many years.
I will miss Mike, and I hope he is resting in peace.
