Microphone for GoPro

Greetings.
I do not have such camera nor used one. Can someone explain if there is a depth-proof water-proof microphone built-in to a GoPro camera; or is it an external attachment, or what are the options for capturing sound ?

There is a built-in mic. Mostly what you hear is the breathing/bubbling/regulator sound of the diver holding the camera.
