Going to dive the Mica in a week or so. Have heard that it is really pretty broken up now. Anyone dove there lately? I'm very excited to be doing my 100th dive on the Mica.

Ann, welcome to ScubaBoard. You are going to find this a very friendly place.

I'd email or call captkillfish@aol.com at Kill Fish charters. http://www.killfishcharters.com/

He's one of the few that I think still does trips to the Empire Mica. He can prob give you the "latest". but age and a little dynamitting have taken the toll on her....

Most of the panama city boats don't do trips there anymore due to the long trip, getting enough people to break even, and the high cost of fuel costs for that long trip run. (unless it's someone who did a whole boat charter out to it).

I know some folks that I think are going to dive it next weekend. If I get a trip report from them, i'll forward it to you.

BTW... if you want to see the prop for the Empire Mica, you can check it out at Capt Andersons in Panama City. It's sitting in the middle of their fountain in front of their eatery.

Hello, I will be in Pensacola diving the Big O on June 20,21 and 22. Would like to get in a trip to the Mica after Pensacola. When will you be diving Mica and do you have room? Thanks, Frank

Just finished up the Mica dive this past weekend. Great dive. Would have luved to see it when it was all intact. There is someone in our group that might be planning another dive there either August/October (or could be both). Dive group we used is Killfish Custom Charters. He is actually a commercial fisher and boat really only set up to take 6 at the most. (4 is the perfect number of divers though!) He is on web site at www.killfishcharters.com.

Planning on diving the Big O myself 9/6-7. Can't wait!

Scuba Ann, Any Pictures you can share? There is so much info in the Mica that it is very alluring to me, but I don't want to go dive a pile of rubble. What are your thoughts?

Did take some pics but haven't done anything with them yet. Will try to get back on that. There is not a whole lot of the ship left intact, but still some stuff to see. LOTS of fish to see. Was hoping to see a shark, but only ended up hangin out with about 50-60 barracuda while doing extra long safety stop. I definitely plan to go for another dive at some point in the future. Someone else in our group going to try to get another trip up for August or September. It is pricey, but something you'd probably like to see if you're into wrecks. I'm mostly into fish but found what was left interesting.

3gun, so how was the Oriskany dive? I'll be in PC week of 4th doing some dives, including couple of night dives. Oriskany is probably the next big trip for me on 9/6-7 with Dive Sports crew out of Decatur, AL.
