I'm putting together a Sony A7S III setup for video work. Will be shooting mostly 4K-60 and occasionally 4K-120. Looking at the CFExpress cards I see the Delkin brand cards at reasonable prices. Not typical cheap Chinese junk prices but enough to sway me from the familiar storage brand I turn to, SanDisk.

Just based on Amazon pricing, the SanDisk Pro-Cinema 480GB is $250. The Delkin Black 480GB is $230. Performance values appear to be similar to each other with a slight edge to the Delkin. Would be running a pair of these cards. Other option would be to go to a singular 960 card, same specs and $20 price differences, but having the two I can record in redundant mode.

Are the Delkin black cards good to go or should I stick with SanDisk?

I shoot a7siii on land. You don’t need cFExpressz. SD cards will do for much cheaper. For 4K 120 you are only limited to a slightly lower quality codec but can still do 10 bit.

Thanks. I was thinking about using the SD cards, but was concerned how they would handle the heat over time as they tend to have limited lifespans, in addition to wanting to experiment with the XAVC S-I 4K at high settings. But I could see running a pair of SDXC V90 cards in simultaneous record mode as it would address much of the shooting as well as offering redundancy should one fail.

But the SDXC V90 cards are listing at more than the CFexpress

Yes that's what I have been running, a pair of SDCX V90 cards, Prograde brand. Very happy with them. I only shoot on surface, don't know what issues might be involved with a housing at depth / heating issues. I don't shoot a whole lot of 4K 120 but I honestly haven't seen much difference in quality between XAVC - S and XAVC S-I (though S-I is easier to edit in post - though proxies can solve this). A pair of 256GB Pro Grade cards is currently $324 on B&H.
