So what did everyone do for their Memorial Day weekend? I went out to John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo and dove Bannana Reef. Very cool and easy dive, complete with several large Black Tip sharks and one good sized Bull.

I worked, don't rub it in!

Me two. I actually took Friday off so I could have a four day weekend, but it did not work out that way. Well at least it was double time

Two dives on Sunday, one dive yesterday.

Saturday we'd planned to go hiking up in the Cascades ... but it was raining so hard that after a couple of miles we turned around.

5 dives in lake crescent in blue-green 60+ foot viz. One wall dive where we re-discovered a handgrenade. 3 scooter dives along an existing line that we found off the east beach, including one out to around 3.6k feet where we repaired two line breaks. Lotta huge rocks and trees to see. A lot of trout that would have looked good on the grill as well...

Did a 100' dive with hubby at Gilboa Saturday; it was his first time actually entering from the platform on the deep side instead of going down the road. Went to White Star Sunday morning and had a nice dive into the crusher building at 8:30am before anyone else got there. Second dive to the crusher was messed up because a group with scooters went through the building like a bunch of rototillers. Wish people would realize how much area the wash from those things can affect.

Drove to Port Clinton, Oh after diving and went to the Walleye Festival. Had perch and walleye sandwiches and listened to a good band before heading out to my in-laws place on Lake James in Indiana for Sunday dinner.

Headed home Monday morning--stopped at Back 40 Junction in Decatur, Indiana for lunch, YUMMY!

I went on the Mo2vation Dive to Catalina...6-8' swells donned the boat on the way out there...some people got sick. My rental equipment was a glutton for punishment and I had problems on every dive (but not enough for me to panic or overcome!)...great dive buddies - dwaters and his friend, who were extremely understanding when my rental octo began to freeflow at 42' and we had to abort the dive early (learned later that the thing was mush...even the bladder inside was destroyed! Had a great time with the rental store on that one!).

Second dive was a comedy of errors too...went to use the boat's back-up reg set up (Thanks to the Sundiver!)...did my BWRAF and everything worked...great! Then I need to slightly inflate my BCD at depth to gain neutral buoyancy...BCD isn't inflating. Fortunately, my instructor engrained oral inflation into my brain and I just inflated to neutrality and continued the dive, but my buddy was running through air because his mask kept flooding...had to cut that dive shorter than planned too...

But I had fun and can't wait to do it again!!!

Didn't go as expected.

Weather cancelled Sunday afternoon and my buddy cancelled on Monday. I had two full tanks on Monday evening and no where to go. I took my finger spool and flag and jumped off the end of the pier. Spent the next few minutes practicing my bouyancy in 3 foot viz at 8 feet! Only burned a quarter of a tank.

May sound like it was really bad, but it was still great and because I had a chance to get wet! I used it to check my gear, so now, I really am ready to go diving!
