you guys have any info on the megalodon rebreather

the internet is full of info on the inspiration but little on anything else. you guys have any experiance with this peice of kit.

also, do you know any good Message boards that are directly about rebreathers??

For info on the Megalodon go to Innerspace Systems' website at

http://www.customrebreathers.com/

or contact Leon, the guy behind the unit, through it.
Saw the megalodon and the Mini Meg at DEMA, they look like pretty good units. However, I haven't tried one yet.
Talked to only one person who has and she liked it.

As for the message boards on CCRs, the only one I know about is more Inspiration, and VR3

I've got a Meg that I've been diving almost a year. I can't really compare it to ant other units since I haven't used any others, but I have been happy with it. The computer is easy to comprehend and adjust. Flying the unit manually is not a problem if you need to. Support from Leon and Morgain has been good. My only problem is that I don't get to dive as much as I would like. The Meg was recommened to me over the Inspiration by my instructor that dives both and instructs both for what it's worth.

Just came across Ron Micjan's rebreather site.
He has some good pictures of the elusive Megalodon, including close-ups of its guts. Anybody intrested should have a look at them. :D

Ron dives a Dolphin CCR conversion, KISS-style, and his site features plenty of info on his rig, as well as a teardown of Gordon Smith's KISS.

The person who designed and sold the electronics to leon passed away a few months ago.. Right now they have a controller only (no built in dive computer). I have some information that there will be an entirely new electronics package for the unit from another company and there will be a major cost increase..
I can't say more right now.. Hopefully once the Megladon becomes a truely production unit, it will be supported by ANDI.

That was really sad news. Hit me like a hammer on the head. And I didn't even know him ... just about his brilliance.
Says something about Leon and his Meg, too.

Don't tease me like that, Joe. I just hate when you do that ... ;) I'm just gonna have to poke a little here (just with the girls, if they tease me too much I poke them ... makes me an equal opportunity poker):

Will that e-package from that other company be sold by unsaid company or will it replace the current package? (see, I poke carefully ...)

Major cost increase on a $6500 rig ... is it at least going to be worth it?
I mean is some dude just gonna add something nice like an online computer and an extra O2 cell space ? Or are we talking about something useless like gold-plated tiger mounts? Or does Leon need a new Range Rover?

I hope that the unit will be a success, from what I've seen and heard it deserves to be. And to some extent a units success depends on the availability of training, so I too hope for ANDI's support.

Since you posted this a while ago, "now" is long over.
Do tell! :D
