Medrol?

Has anyone taken the steroid medrol for ear problems? An ear nose and throat doctor gave me a six day dose pack of this to get the swelling in my ear down, but the side effects are weight gain!! Just wondering if anyone has ever taken this drug?
I am kind of worried about it!

I took it after I injured my back in a skiing accident. It started working almost immediately to reduce swelling. Quite literally, I was able to move without any pain or stiffness less than three hours after the first dose.

No problem with weight gain as I only took it for six days.

However, my doctor stressed the importance of taking each dose on schedule. Apparently, Medrol interferes with the production of adrenaline (or something else from the adrenal glands). Your initial dose is quite high, with subsequent doses tapering off so that your system can re-balance itself.

Of course, I am not an M.D. You should seek competant medical advice before taking any medicine.

Medrol should provide relief very quickly, result in no weight gain over such a short course with standard dosage & be taken as directed.

Corticosteroids can be marvelous drugs. There is very little reason to fear them when used as instructed by your physician.
