Thinking about going to the galapagos next August. Time isn't really flexible, and it might be the last chance for a few years to take a big trip. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Right now, we're still in the "maybe we could go to......" stage of trip planning, so nothing is nailed down.

Hi. We went to Galapagos July 2008. Since this was a 'once in a lifetime' sort of trip, we decided to spend an extra week exploring the other parts of Ecuador too. FANTASTIC. We originally hatched our Galapagos plan over beers one night and then I decided what the heck and planned the trip. It was one of those sorts of decisions...if we don't do it now, we probably won't ever. My parents were saints for watching our 3 year old for 2 weeks! It was a truly amazing trip. I enjoyed the rainforest as much as I did the Galapagos. The diving was a lot of fun. We had no currents, but still saw tons of sharks, turtles, rays and many other critters. We did have 1 very enjoyable encounter with a whale shark. We dove with Aggressor and had a very off first day with them, but after that, things settled in and we had a great trip (they were just amazingly disorganized day 1). Our first time on a liveaboard. We would do one again for someplace like the galapagos where you just can't get to sites without it. Feel free to contact me with any further questions.
