If every who does a dive or three on Saturday, dedicate a dive to your mother. Thank her for giving you the chance to experience life and living underwater for a time.

My mother was always afraid of my diving. She was never a strong swimmer and had a very strong fear of water. She accomplished something that was very difficult for anyone with her fear. She understood how diving made me feel and despite her fear she encouraged me to dive. My mother was not perfect, but she was kind and loving. She did an excellent job of raising six children in difficult times. My mother never finished school, but she had intelligence and wisdom I frequently called upon. She could see to the heart of a situation quickly and with incredible accuracy. I consider her the best friend I've ever had. She was wise enough to let me make mistakes, but would give me the advantage of her experience when I had the wisdom to seek it. She loved children. For her, children was the purpose of the universe. When it came time for her to die, she faced it with incredible courage and helped her family to face it. I won't be dedicating a dive to her, instead, I try to make her proud of the way I live my life every day.
