The only thing is that you aren't allowed to push off the wall when you do the underwater swim test. I used the push and pull method. The biggest thing for me was just relaxing before I took my breath and focus more on gliding through the water rather than the distance I had to swim.

That video helped me a lot, when I started prepping for the Rec Triox swim test. I have made it all the way across the pool several times now. I just wish my frog kick were as effective as the one in the video!

Seems to work a whole lot better than my flailing arm technique:D
Thanks for the heads up1
Henry
PS Hope you guys have a good trip report from this weekend.

Thanks for linking to my webspace. It's fine, really -- as long as it helps people.
That video isn't of me, nor was it done recently. But the technique shown works great.

The video was taken specifically for the open water classes taught at my university and has nothing to do with GUE-F. It was probably filmed 15+ years ago. The technique shown for the kick/pull cycle minus the pushoff still works fine. Plenty of people are finding the video useful, and I hope this continues. :)

Including me. Using "my" techinique I make 25 m, using this technique yesterday I made 40 m.

Congrats -- wish I could go that far...

Surprised on the comments that the wall push off isnt allowed in the GUE test.

Have completed two classes with two different instructors so far and in both cases pushing off the wall was done.

I wonder if this is an instructor specific requirement.
