Just an FYI it is open. Stayed one and 1/2 day at end of 3 weeks stay. No dive op and only part of the beach is "groomed" with chairs umbrellas. Enough for the amount of Guests. The old "Board Room Beach Bar" is just a cement slab. Also, no casino as they want to cater to family and business. All outlets are 2 round European. Not astonishingly different but very updated and 2 large pools.

The staffing is over the top friendly and do anything for you and very conversational. Mind you only open 2 weeks or so... meaning there are rough edges. Food at Tapas place was very good and quick. We would stay again. Oh, one bartender at the pool bar was painfully slow... it was like watching the worst of "Bar Rescue" quite entertaining. The other bartenders were ok.

Marriott hotels all tend to be nearly identical inside, is that the case for this hotel as well?

Last time I was there, select guests would come down to the beach really early and “reserve” most of the loungers. Still happening?

Are you talking about the same place? I thought this joint had only been open for two weeks.

There’s another one? When we stayed there last, it had a casino, dive shop and crappy pool. I assumed that it reopened after years of renovations?

It was closed 4 or 5 years on renovation. As with many Marriott Guests they feel entitled to stake out their territory and vacate for hours. As this place just reopened there as not much of that. Give it a few months and the "Marriott Entitled" will be up to their old tricks I am sure.

No this is varied from cookie cutter and always was. With several restaurants with varied themes and kind of a open air feel.
