JimiRock.com is a cute website for kids about the marine world. It's got lots of neat info on it as well as games. Encourages kids to clean up trash daily and interact with the sea creatures they see in Jimi's underwater world. They have a really cute Green Team effort going too! Check it out if you have a few minutes. Sign-up is free. :dork2:

Early exposure does make a difference.

I saw Cousteau's work on TV, read about Beebe and Aluminaut when I was young. I was snorkeling the lake at 7 and ran away to Ocean City at 14 (the nearest ocean). I never had a doubt what I was going to do when I grew up. I was going to explore the ocean. Calculus stopped me from becoming an oceanographer but I found that the flexibility of being a tech suited me.

I'm now retired from NOAA and shipboard ops, before I was with them I worked for Univ Miami. Now I'm doing contract work supporting those that are out there doing it.

Once a kid gets the bug, it just takes a little encouragement. Adventure and exploration are what gets a kids attention.
