Zoox is a UK based business aiming to support those who wish to develop practical and
professional skills and experience in Marine Conservation through training and the Zoox
Experience Programmes. We are currently interviewing for six volunteers to work as Project
Coordinators for a United Nations regional marine conservation project in the popular diving
destination of Puerto Galera in the Philippines for 8 weeks. This will not only provide a unique
opportunity for each selected individual to gain valuable and recognised skills for future
employment, but also to develop a successful and effective marine conservation programme in
a location where it is really needed.

6x Project Coordinators

We are looking for volunteers to support the UNEP Green Fins project in Puerto Galera
for 8 weeks. The project has been established in the area since 2010 with a number of
successes but as always there is still work to do. We are looking for 6 individuals to
support the project with training and accreditations of Green Fins dive centres and
general project development in the area. There are also opportunities to manage
projects outside of the diving tourism sector. These could include;

• Seagrass survey with the intention of establishing a fish sanctuary helping the local
turtle population frequenting the area. This will also act as an alternative livelihood
programme allowing local fisherman to conduct snorkel trips in the bay.

• Helping to further establish 20 reef survey sites for long term monitoring of the
municipality.

• Information and Education Campaigns (IEC’s) within local schools and for local
fishermen

• Mangrove rehabilitation and education in association with a local school

• Organising a series of beach clean‐ups in the area.

A successful applicant will be passionate about a future career in the marine science
and/or conservation sector. Successful candidates might have a degree in Marine
Science or related field and have a minimum of 50 dives (for the diving placements) and
an internationally recognised SCUBA diving qualification. Specific projects and duties will
be designed around each individual’s strengths, interests and future career desires.

The cost is GBP £1,500 which will pay for training, the Zoox Welcome Pack (a Zoox shirt, a tough
beach bag, unique splash‐proof document wallet and information on your placement) and close
coordination and support while you are on the placement for a minimum of 8 weeks. The
individual is expected to cover all additional costs including flights, insurance, visas and personal
costs (please visit the Zoox website to see an estimate of these costs).

To apply for this placement you will need to e‐mail through your CV and a cover letter explaining
why you are interested in the programme for the Zoox team’s consideration (info@zoox.org.uk).
Want to know more, or read some of our testimonials and blogs from past volunteers? Then
simply go to www.zoox.org.uk and click on the Students and Graduates tab.

We look forward to hearing from you,
