Anyone know what Mares' warranty on regulators is? I looked at there website but I couldn't find a single thing.

:thumbs_up Hi,
Just dug out my warrenty for my proton xl reg, and they give you a lifetime warrenty.

Only if the reg is serviced by a Mares approved tech. every year ;)

does their lifetime warranty covers parts like Scuba Pro's? I ask because I am thinking of buying an Abyss since I can get one for $250 online, but if their warranty covers parts then I may wait until I can afford to buy one locally.

Service kits are only provided for the first two years, so in other words, its NOT the same as Scubapro or APeks which provide service kits for life (every other year with Apeks, every year with SP).

AByss is currently out of bussiness, they say that theyll be back next year but thats yet to be seen, servise kits are still around but are bound to run out. If they dont come back they're warrenty would be worthless I would imagine (whos gonna pay for the kits?).

I am thinking of buying a Mares Abyss, not a reg from Abyss the company.

Ok my bad I thought you were deciding between the two, carry on.

The Abyss has been phased out... so you can find them cheap... As stated above, it's limited lifetime if purchased through an authorized dealer, but 2 years parts.

The only thing I would suggest is upgrade to the new spherical core seat which only requires service every 2 years instead of every year. Much more dependable and better air flow. It's a stainless version of the Ruby seat and is what they are putting in the Titanium TI Planet, V16 and V32 first stages. A MR22 can be upgraded for about $65.00 - but by then, you might look at the TI Planet instead - unless you are running Nitrox over 40%.
