I was diving this weekend and my 1st stage started to leak in an odd place. The v16 1st stage has a plastic/rubber cover on it so I really can't tell where exactly the leak is coming from but I could see air bubbles and hear the air coming out from under the plastic cover near one of the HP ports and the yoke. My dive instructor and another dive master were both confused as they had never seen this before. I dove once with it this weekend, thinking it was just a bad o-ring on the tank, but after that dive I could see that it was a much bigger problem than I thought and stopped diving with it. This gear is only 4 months old and only has about 50 dives on it. I called Mares and they gave me the, huh???????? and forwarded my issue to Mares in Italy.

Anyone have any clues?

Where did you buy it????? Do you have a dive shop close???? Sounds like it is just an o-ring but you need to get it fixed

That seems to me to be a case for warranty (although that's obviously not up to me to decide:D ). Bring it back to the shop ASAP for warranty! They should fix it or replace it for you.

My V16 is doing fine after about 25 dives with it... No problems here so far!

You should simply bring it back to the place of purchase for service. Naturally this should not happen after 4 months, assuming use has been normal and nothing has been done to it.

It is under warranty and you should have no problem, make sure you have your warranty info and receipt.

It seems as though this was a simple fix, I just received the reg back from Mares after they repaired it under warranty and everthing works fine. My understanding is that it was a blown O-ring or something to that extent. My lack of experience with equipment sent me into a panic and uproar and seems that when I posted the original thread I over-reacted and to some extent, unfairly 'bad-mouthed' Mares and their support team. Mares has done a great service for me both in the sale and handling of this issue.

Thanks to all the Mares staff at HEAD USA for their support.
