Can someone tell me the diffrence between the Proton 42 and V42?

the proton 42 is a Proton 2nd stage combined with a V42 1st stage. V42 just refers to a 1st stage unit.:coffee:

The second stages are the same. The difference is in the first stage. The original 42 was known as the V42. It used the SCS (Spherical Core Seal) valve system. The later model is known as the MR42. It now uses the tri-material valve system. The older reg cannot be converted over to the new system. With that said, parts will be available for a long time for the original design. There was no real problem with the original design, it was done so that all of the Mares diaprhagm first stages use the tri-material system.
