Does anyone here know the difference between the Mares MV 12S and the Sea Elite RX330? I can see a noticeable design difference and I believe the MV is balanced and the Sea Elite is not, anything else?

Thnx,
Robert

Mares is just a better company - been around longer and makes better quality stuff IMO.

Sea Elite is a from one of the big OEM mfr's in China or Taiwan sold mostly by Divers Supply as their house brand afaik. google Sea Elite dealers - most seem to be on eBay - except Divers Supply. Unless your plan is to dive it till it breaks then throw it out, you've got to get it serviced somewhere - and they need the parts.

Sea Elite RX330
. A classic, unbalanced piston first-stage offers 4 low-pressure ports, 1 high-pressure port, and the simplicity of one moving part
I'd buy the Mares.

Mares MV 12S USA Regulator Specifications
1'St Stage Type
Balanced Diaphragm
Lp Ports
Four, 3/8" Unf Threaded
Hp Ports
Two 7/16" Unf Threaded
Nitrox Compatible
Yes, Up To 40%
If you later add an AI computer and want a backup pressure gauge in case it fails, you'll need the 2nd port.

If it is a choice just between Mares regulator and Sea Elite, I'd go with Mares without any second thought at all. If it were a choice between Mares, Atomic, Scubapro, Aqua Lung, I'd go in this order:

1. Atomic
(Very close between Atomic and SP)
2. Scubapro
(Wide Margin between 2 and 3)
3. AL

4. Mares

sea elite also sells a balanced diaphragm reg the rx650 that is similar to the hog d1/classic. but the price is pretty much the same as hog which doesn't make it a good deal.

if you are looking for a yoke reg, take a look at the edge exp. divers supply has them listed at a competitive price.
