I have the Mares V16 Proton reg and I love it for rec diving.
The M12 that you mention received a best buy from Rodales Scuba Lab and DiveOz, Australia. Great reg for non-cold water diving. Anything lower than 50 degF is not recommended without adding the Cold Water Kit (CWK).

You do not mention what kind of diving you do. But if it's primarirly warm water diving, the Mare M12 is a good choice.

Whatever you choose, enjoy the diving.

I have a Mares MR12 and Proton on my deep rig as my Bungee, the Proton is so light and comfy round my neck.

I use a Ruby for my primary

THe Proton is a very light Reg, I often breath from it down to 190Ft or so and it is very nice.

Hello All,

With regards to the posting asking about Mares MR12 Rigs, I have a couple of comments, one nice and one not so nice.

Firstly, the first stage and the assocated second stages are wonderfully light and small.

I bought it because of this fact and the fact that it was relatively cheap.

However this rig is definately not to be used in colder waters, it really doesn't deal well in my experience with waters of 10 degress or less.

So much so, that after a free flow at 30mtrs, I have now gone out and bought the ScubaPro mk25 and X650, which are definately suited to the colder waters.

I don't see the MR12/16 being an issue for diving in sydney, but just wanted to point out that it's a point people should consider.

Paul
