Is the Dive Alert Air Horn compatible with the Dragon and the female equivalent , Keila?

The Dive Alert goes inline between the low pressure hose coming from the 1st stage regulator and the inflator on the BCD. Just like LP inflator hoses, the Dive Alert will work with all BCDs with normal inflators.

Dive Alerts come in the 3 flavors --- the standard one for LP hoses feeding just a standard inflator, and two types for the larger diameter connectors used for the different brands of combo inflator/octo devices.

and what about one for the AT series of mares BC's? any sugestions? (im thinking) add a LP hose, plug off the outlet on the Dive Alert?

Just like a disconnected LP hose automatically shuts off, so does the outlet/downstream side of the Dive Alert. There's a little valve that gets opened up by the prong that goes into the coupling.

The ideal situation would indeed be a Dive Alert with the outlet permanently blocked off. I thought somebody like Halcyon had such a dive, but couldn't find it on their website.

In practice, just hanging a Dive Alert off the end of an LP hose wouldn't be too bad of a risk, since if the valve in the Dive Alert started leaking, you could unhook the Dive Alert, and the valve in the LP hose would prevent further air loss.

Just to confirm the dive alert can be used for both the Dragon and Kaila.

The dive alert can go in line with Air Trim version of Mares bcd's. However the dive alert will most likely sit below the water line, even with BCD fully inflated. It's been a while since I've looked closely at a dive alert. It may be possible to simply disconnect the alert from the airtrim portion of the bcd when you want to use it? This would allow you to first fill the bc, disconnect the alert, hold it above water and blast away. Sounds like you guys are on to this, and you may have a better idea considering your talking about plugging the port on the dive alert. Good luck.

Best regards,

Zak is right there.. You can just undo the quick disconnect fitting to get the dive alert above the water line. And when you do that, neither the BC or the air line will leak as they have valves to stop that. One problem might be if you routed the hose through the jacket, you would have to get it out from there to raise it.

I know some folks that get a dive alert from us, and just leave it in a pocket. When they want to use it, they unhook their inflator and pop it on. You may want to practice this a few times as the inflator hose is a little harder to get off and on while under pressure - but not too big a deal once you get the hang of it.

I also had a customer that decided to put on an extra LP inflator hose - about 20 bucks, and also put one of those rubber air blowers on the end of the dive alert.

Then with this hose, they had their dive alert, and an easy way to inflate a sausage without using your octo.
