The Abyss were very highly rated in Rodale's last batch of gear tests. The only con was a bit of bubble interference.

We just bought a couple of these regs. They have a great flow rate & breathe VERY easy. However, as the testers noted, there is a little bubble interference because of the short exhaust T. I will also be chaging out the mouthpiece, as the mfg's seems to be a bit "short" for my bite.

To date we only have a couple of dives on them (lowest temp about 54F). However, we are leaving Sat for a week in Bonaire, and I will be able to give you a better idea of how they performed under various conditions when I get back.

Meanwhile, you might want to check out Rodales for the gear review.

My wife and I each have a DIN Abyss. More than a few dives on each and never had any problems. Very easy to breathe. Personally I love it.

The Iceberg is probably the finest regulator that Beuchat has ever put out. However, getting repair parts in the not to distant future may be a BIG problem. Even today, many dealers can't get parts.

Even though I am not a big fan of the Mares, it may be your wiser choice.

Just my $.02
