Hey guys,

We just published a map of some of the dive sites on the north wall and west bay. This is a map some of our captains have used for some time, but due to popular request, we've decided to make it public.

We were contemplating adding descriptions, photos and drawings to this, although iDive has pretty much already done that. iDive however doesn't have some of these sites, and their map is a bit buggy sometimes. Thoughts or comments are welcome. (I know our map doesn't format well for mobile devices just yet.)

Worth noting that these dive sites names and GPS numbers come from the official Cayman Islands Department of Environment list. Some of the sites are know by different names to some operators. For example, we've always called Darvin's Theory by the name "Darwin's Theory" due to a misunderstanding when the name was given over the phone. Reef Divers call the dive site Park Place by the name "Barkers" due to its proximity to Barkers National Park.

Thanks Tony. We have always called Darwin’s Theory Darwin’s as well and only ever heard it called that. It’s a big favorite of ours. Sometimes the info gets messed up especially when it is reported by a someone who has no idea what they are actually reporting on. Even sadder is that they never question who is Darvin that had such an important theory!!! Your map is great and the names you use are pretty much identical to what we have always heard them called over the decades.

Hey Regina,

The story I heard - Davrin was one of the workers for the DOE, and he named it after himself. When Christian called the DOE to asked the name of the site, he mis-heard the guy and thought he said Dawrin's Theory, so thats how it was logged in the GPS. We got corrected years later when someone notified DOE the tag line was missing from the mooring.
