Thanks, Mr. Wank! That did the trick! I don't know what I might have done to turn that off, but obviously I did something.
Thanks again!
On the G12 you cycle through the different "image review" screens by pushing the "disp" button (left side, below the big wheel on the back)
before the image disappears. If you only have it set for 2 seconds (I forget the exact minimum time) you will have to go to the blue image review button to pull it back up. When I'm underwater I always leave set the review image time on the screen for the max (8 seconds I believe) so I have time to look at it. You can also set the max review time at "hold" and it will stay there until you slightly depress the shutter release. I use 8 seconds which is plenty of time to review the shot.
It will cycle through as shown in the below attachment. It is on page #44 of the user manual. You probably hit it by accident to show the blank (no image) screen in the shooting mode (shooting mode, in this instance, is what shows up on the screen after you take a shot). Setting the review time at 2 seconds doesn't give you much time to use the "disp" button to cycle the screens.
Hitting reset probably just put it back in the "factory default" setting, which is probably 2 seconds. The reason it shows up in C1, C2 and Auto is because those settings override your current settings (which includes AV, TV & M), including the shot review screen. If you've never saved any settings to the C1 or C2 they are probably at factory default.
Test it by setting the screen to black in AV mode and then saving as C1 and I bet you will not get a review screen in your C1 setting like you mentioned in your post.
Hope this helps for future..
