We did Something Special on Thursday afternoon (July 5th) and just as we were ending dive and swimming back to shore, it swam right in front of me at about 15 feet. I gave a complete stranger a high five and a hug underwater after we both saw it.

Nice! I saw one at Bari Reef. It was swimming the same direction I was, but above me (I was at 30 ft, top of the reef) and didn't realize it was there until it was well beyond me. The small distant dark-ish smudge in the one photo I took is the only evidence, outside of my memory, that it existed.

Nice. We loved Bari reef, did it 3 times in a week and was awesome every time.

Beautiful! I blew a dive plan on the back side of Molokini to video a manta. Second dive, supposed to max at 60', but I hit 109' chasing the ray. I thought the lead DM would yell at me, but then realized he beat me to depth. We had plenty of air to decompress if needed, so no real problem.

The video of the ray is only so-so, but in the audio you can clearly hear the alarm on my computer going off.....

(Clarification: I was a paying customer, not a DM on this dive.)

We had heard there was a manta in the area when preparing to dive the Cliff last week, but unfortunately never saw it. You were able to get nice and close! Something Special is appropriately named for sure.

I heard it was also hanging out at Yellow Submarine swimming around the confined area where Dive Friends does their underwater skills. Can you imagine being a brand new diver and seeing that? Ha
