My families planning a trip to manitoulin island next week, and I was hoping to get a little diving in. I was curious is anyone has any experience in this area, is there good diving? Also does anyone know of any fill stations on the island? Thanks in advance.

Took me a while to find the thread where this was discussed long time ago, see if i can stick it in - Manitoulin part is on page 3-4

There is also some general info here:

If you are going for a while (like 2 weeks) and want to dive some neat wrecks - your best bet is to take the Cheechenman ferry to Tobermory and arrange for some dives there

Northwind in the North Channel is the best dive in the area (IMO). If you have the experience, try to get on that one.

Hi

Its a great place for you and the family to get away from the city for a while, I dove there a few years back and there is good diving to be found but the waters can be rough. I also found it rather hard to get to the water as most of the land is private property and clearly labeled. There is a light house at the northern peninsula which also is a camp ground, I'm not sure if its still there but its well worth the drive.

According to the Great Lakes Diving Guide there are 22 wrecks around Manitoulin Island, most are boat dives but there are a couple of what appear to be easy shore dives, The Joyland in Burnt Island Harbour and The Burlington in the Mississagi Straits I can PM you more details if you want or you can get a copy of the guidebook.
