haven't had a camera for a little bit, but jonesing to post, so
these pics will do!

they were taken with a disposable underwater camera (no flash, could
have kicked myself i din't check) at a dive with some ScubaBoard
buddies at Crystal River, Florida, earlier this year. the visibility
was horrible, about ten feet max.

Looks like a big ugly rock! :D Very cool, tho!

The Manatees are cute! How friendly are they?

Whose fins are sticking up in the air on the first pic?

thanks all...

lisa, the manatees are VERY friendly... if you scratch their front fin, and if they're
in the mood, they will turn their tummy to you for petting.

so long as you go slow, don't chase them, and let them come to you, they are
awesome.

i love diving with manatees

as to the fins, they belonged to somebody on our boat
i didn't know. he wasn't a scubaboard diver

My wife did her certification dive there. I had such a great time just petting them it is something everyone should do once.

Very cool picts! What is the best time of the year to dive with those guys?

Those are so cool..would love to dive with them.

a few manatees hang around year-round, but they REALLY
troop in around December through February (seeking
warmer waters). I try to go see them in January or
February every year. It's sort of a yearly ritual for me.
