First time diving in Maldives, this Dec. Seems like the only route options are Central Atolls (Male and Ari). Also read that whale sharks / manta season ends November. Is this a good time to dive in Maldives, or should I wait?

Yes, for central atolls (see the route, below).
Besides Manta & Whaleshark you may see Guitar, Spinner, Nurse, Gray, Whitetip, Blacktip Reef Sharks too (see my trip video I did last December, below).
If you want to see other sharks (Tiger, Silvertip, Hammerhead) you may want to go to Far South (Huvadhoo Atoll, Fuvahmulah & Addu Atoll), which I’m going to do in February 2025 (see the Far South route). I still have one or two spots available if you are interested (with 15% group rate discount).
