Where were you diving when you saw Makos? I think they are beautiful animals. Not to mention being the fastest shark and capable of leaping to 30 feet into the air.
Was it a positive interaction? I have heard of divers feeding them in rare cases.
And I know they tend to take speared game fish away from divers.
