Hi everyone.
I'm not local to New England but I'm starting an internship this summer in mid June in Maine and am curious about how the conditions there get around June-August. I'm an Oregon diver so I have cold water kit (still stuck on a 7mm wetsuit and vest, saving up for a drysuit), but I've never dove on the east coast. Anyone have any tips on current, visibility, average temps, or good dive sites to visit while I'm there? I'll be around Walpole, if that's any help.

Thanks!

Thanks @tbone1004

Near Walpole, I am only familiar with Rachel Carson Salt Pond Preserve (near New Harbor). It is one of the best dives in Maine.

Here is a link to our local dive club Facebook page. We meet in South Portland the second Tuesday of every month.

The top post has a link to some useful resources. In particular, take a look at the link to Scuba Knowtes. That page has subpage with information about a lot of the better shore diving in southern Maine.

Thank you! I'll check them out. Gotta say as an Oregonian, it keeps throwing me off to get directions or reference points in Portland.

I am up in Lubec and am going to begin diving the region. If you are interested in coming up to the area let me know. I also own and Inn and Pub so we can sort you out with accommodations if needed.
