Hi, I'm from Singapore and need to breathe some compressed air badly after being away from diving for 2 years. Unfortunately, I can only take 2 days off work so mactan seems to be a good choice.

Every guide seems to recommend avoiding June to November for diving in mactan though, so I thought I'd ask here if anyone has dived there during those months and what they thought of it? Hearing any experiences would be useful, thank you in advance!

Typhoon does not affect Cebu City only.
The best dive sites around in Mactan are quite a distance away. Just remember demand and supply.

Tioman is a lot closer and Aug is still the diving season.

Thanks, but I've been to tioman once and absolutely hated the whole vibe. Plus I really wanna eat some sisig and bulalo. I wasn't sure if I understood you correctly, do you mean the dive sites around mactan would be badly affected?

"Sisig" is not my favourite.
"Bulalo" is also known as "Porchero" in Cebu but I cannot tell the difference! This is my all time favourite.
Question for you: Bulalo or Bak Kut Teh?

The best dives are miles away and operator only go there if there is enough demand. Some of the sites on either side of the channel are good as well.
The catch is finding a good operators as there are a lot of Korean operators on Mactan.

Expensive one.

As a Singaporean, I find that Bak kut teh is quite a boring dish. At least the version that's usually sold here! Just north of us in Malaysia, the Bak kut teh they serve is completely different and so much better.

I'd choose bulalo over either any day though!

Do not forget the Cebuano Lechon. LOL.

You need to find a good dive operator in Mactan.
