I have been looking at getting a macro lens for my gopro hero 4. I see three good options. The SRP +10, the macromate mini, and then some Andoer 55mm macro lens. I found a open box macromate mini for $65, the SRP for around $53, and the 4 pack of 55mm lens on amazon are $9-20!! I am wondering if there is going to be a significant difference with the gopro specific lens. All of the lens on amazon are also used for peoples DSLR setups and get good reviews... Say these ones... 1373 reviews!

Also, do a lot of people use red filters on top of macro lens? With the macromate mini and the amazon lens you can stack them. Its nice to have to option but I have 2 lights on my tray so I will probably use those.

I use the Macromate Mini. A red filter might be useful on shallow dives, where there is plenty of natural light. But any deeper/darker, and lights will be required. When using lights, a red filter is not appropriate because the light spans the full spectrum needed. However, I use the Backscatter Flip 4, which allows me to flip between a red filter and the macro lens during a dive. In other words, shoot through one or the other, but never both simultaneously.
