Just back from Bonaire and am quite happy with my results however, I wish I was able to get a little more tighter with more detail on some macro subjects without being so obtrusive with my rig. Anyone know if there are any options for macro or stacked macro wet lenses for the Ike's G9 housing?

On this one, I had to practically stick the port into that poor Anemone without spooking this Pederson Shirmp.

This one you can see how close I was to some precious coral on the left just the get the hairs on the appendages of this Banded Coral Shrimp.

Bueller?… Bueller?… Bueller?” ...

So with a little research, it looks like the Inon UCL-165 with 67mm threads is the only option.

Just got a new external macro lens by UN FUN-IN Underwater Photographic Equipment
If u see from the specs the focaling length is 100mm, in actual use, I think I had to get to 2inches from the subject, depending on its size... Was warned the small dof of the lens but I quite like it. It worked well with stationary subjects i.e nudibranches n I managed to get better photo of pygmy seahorses...
At the camera shop, I also tried the Inon lens, although it has a longer focaling length, I still had to move in towards the subject.
Sorry have very limited experience with macro lenses & don't really understand the workings behind them, I just use it!

Driftin'--Last month there was a "Super macro" thread that brought up Reefnet's SubSee adapter & lens. (http://http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/underwater-photography/271803-supermacro.html)

After reading that thread I emailed Keri Wilk at ReefNet, who proved to be more than helpful. They cobbled up an adapter, which is now enroute to me, for my G-10w/Canon housing. I haven't shot it yet but I've heard good things about the setup, including the notion that the magnifier/adapter swings out of the way if you want to shoot distant stuff. I'm sure an Ike is no problem for them to fit! :eyebrow: // ww

Josh, what did you find? Your macros with the basic set-up are pretty good really. I have the same set-up as yours. Comparing with results from an old Nikonos makes me want better macros. I have been disappointed with the WA lens so I really hesitate to invest more.

if you go to ReefNet's website, check out the subsee.
if you contact them they can build you a port for your housing,
which has a hinge, so you can swing the lens down when you want
it or leave it out of the way without carrying it.
+10 magnification:D

inon makes a macro lens that works with the ikelite housing. I use it quite often. Some get great shots but some or eh. I have the short port on my ikelite housing so I don't get to zoom quite a close as i would like to at times. It also hurts cause I have to get closer to the subject so I can't get my strobe as well positioned as I would like.

A few recent examples with the Inon UCL-165M67 in an Ikelite housing. With these pics I used the standard port that comes with the housing allowing me to zoom in close.

Thank you for posting these. Actually seeing what it does and comparing that with what I've been able to do without it lets me be a lot more comfortable about buying it. What were your settings? From what I can figure without actually seeing this set up is that it wet mounts to the Ikelite housing--do you use the short port? Is there anything else to add to the housing?

Thanks for posting.

I also have a G9 and have the Inon close up lens I used on an older Ol housing. I decided this week end to go with the Ikelite housing for the G9. However, I was told that I needed to get the short port because the standard port for the G9 housing was not compatible with the close up and wide angle lenses. The short port included the 67mm threads required for both. But if I understand some of the messages in this thread people are using the Inon close up lens on their standard port. Is that correct?

Thanks
